Quantification of the Impact of Land Use/Land Cover Changes on Ecosystem Services: A Case Study in Adana-Karaisalı

Global scale changes in land use affect biodiversity, global climate, and ecosystem services. Integrating a local regional service approach into plans policies levels is essential for sustainable management. In this study, use/land cover differences Adana-Karaisali district of Turkey were investigated using Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI). Landsat satellite images the area from 2000 2016 analyzed ISODATA method 16 identified based on third level CORINE classification framework. The results showed that biggest occurred agricultural areas, 2.57% decrease non-irrigated arable while 7.14% increase was observed permanently irrigated lands. spite number inhabitants area, continuous urban fabric increased at rate 0.07% 7.62% forest positive or negative effects services Common International Classification Ecosystem Services (CICES) framework evaluated. case Karaisalı, water bodies natural landscapes, it has been increases forests, artificial surfaces positively have affected valuation district.
